A citizen mediation service was established in the Lower Laurentians in 1999. The alternative justice organization Mesures Alternatives des Basses-Laurentides is in charge of Médiation citoyenne des Basses-Laurentides.
We offer citizens of all ages living in the Thérèse-De Blainville, Deux-Montagnes and Mirabel RCMs the opportunity to receive free, confidential guidance from a mediator to resolve a conflict or dispute.
The service offered by Médiation citoyenne des Basses-Laurentides is a voluntary, flexible and beneficial mediation process whose goal is to rebuild, maintain or improve relations between people through communication. Great emphasis is placed on allowing everyone to express their points of view, as well as the consequences and feelings experienced. A solution can also be provided as an outcome to the process if this meets the needs of the people involved. Citizen mediation is faster, less complex and less expensive for the parties compared to the traditional justice system.
